IDPA Stages
At the Safety Officer Course they went through aspects of IDPA stage design and encouraged you to start designing your own stages. The basic rules of IDPA stage design are:
- 18 rounds maximum
- 10yd max headshots
- Encourage engaging targets up to 35yds
- No more than 1 no-shoot per 3 targets
- No more than 25% of steel targets
- The stage needs to mimic a real world scenario and not some circus merry go round.
A lot of the stages that I’ve shot over the past few years have been pretty similar. There’s a few that stand out, and those are definitely fun and quite memorable. So I’ve tried to design a few stages which are memorable and do not require any exotic props. If your club has the basic set of target stands, swingers, poppers and plates, you’ll be able to run any of these stages.
